"Frederick Douglass" received its premier by the New Jersey State Opera in Newark Symphony Hall on April 14, 1991. To date, it is the only full production of the opera that has been given. Louis Johnson was the director, and Salvatore Tagliarino was the designer. Alfredo Silipigni conducted. Kevin Maynor starred in the role of Frederick Douglass.
