Ulysses Kay: Twentieth Century Composer

"New York: City of Magic" was Kay's second television score, preceded by "FDR: From Third Term to Pearl Harbor," also written in 1958. "City of Magic" received its premier on October 10, 1961, at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

"FDR" was part of the television series, "The Twentieth Century," and aired on April 13, 1958, on the CBS Network. Other scores that Kay created for television include three subsequent episodes of "The Twentieth Century" series: "The Fall of China" (1959), "Submarine!" (1959), and "Admiral Byrd (1960). Other programs include "Going Home" and "The Land" (both 1962) and "Essay On Death" (1964) a Leo Hurwitz Production on John F. Kennedy created for WNET (Channel 13), New York.
