The Jewish holiday of Purim is a time for celebration and merriment, and theatre was a common form of entertainment for the holiday.  From the 15th century onward, the story of Purim was often performed and adapted to much acclaim at Purim celebrations.  This 19th century play is a German rendition of the Purim story, transliterated into Hebrew letters.

Gift of Mr. J. N. Hazard, 1896.
