Many Jews living during the Renaissance avidly read the works of Arabic doctors and scientists.  This work is a Hebrew translation of a medicinal work by Yūḥannā Ibn Māsawayh, known as Johannis Mesue in Latin translations of his work.  The opening shows a discussion of galgulot, or pills.
