From the relatively modest start in Shanghai in 1919, Starr's company had grown into a multinational insurance corporation, and had integrated many other companies in many places around the world.  This collection of companies was incorporated, in 1967 in Delaware, into the American International Group (AIG).

As Starr's health deteriorated, he named M.R. (Maurice Raymond) Greenberg as his successor as company leader in 1968.

Here we see Greenberg and Starr, in October 1967, as they celebrate Mr. Starr's 75th birthday.
