The Problem We All Live With.  Norman Rockwell, 1964.

This iconic painting personalizes the civil rights movement in a snapshot: young Ruby Bridges being escorted by Federal Marshals to her new, integrated school in New Orleans.  Rockwell brings the viewer eye-level with 6-year-old Ruby and a hurled tomato, as the huge officers loom around her.
